How do preorders work?Updated 44 minutes ago
A preorder lets you secure an item before it is released. You pay in full when you order, and we ship once the item arrives with us. Estimated dates are on the product page.
At a glance
- You pay in full when you place a preorder, and we email you an order confirmation.
- Release and delivery dates are estimates and can change.
- If you cancel because you changed your mind, a 10% cancellation fee applies. You can do this up to one week before the scheduled release or shipping date.
- If the release date is delayed by more than 7 calendar days, you can cancel for a full refund with no fee.
- Refunds are generally processed within 7 to 10 business days and go back to your original payment method.
When do preorders go live?
We can't share preorder go-live times in advance. They are only announced through our social channels and our GG Rewards emails.
Payment and confirmation
Full payment is required when you place a preorder. Once your payment has been processed, you'll receive an order confirmation by email.
Release and delivery dates
Estimated release or delivery dates are shown on the product page. If no estimated date is shown, use the manufacturer's release date as a guide.
All dates are estimates. They can change because of manufacturing delays, shipping disruptions, supplier changes or other circumstances outside our control.
Cancelling a preorder
If you changed your mind: a 10% cancellation fee applies and is deducted from your refund. This helps cover payment surcharges and the cost of processing and cancelling the order. Change of mind cancellations can only be processed up to one week before the scheduled release or shipping date.
If the release date changes: release dates come from manufacturers and distributors and can occasionally move.
- If the release is delayed by 7 calendar days or less, a cancellation is treated as a change of mind and the 10% fee applies.
- If the release is delayed by more than 7 calendar days, you can cancel and receive a full refund with no fee.
Refunds: generally processed within 7 to 10 business days of cancellation and returned to your original payment method.
Non-refundable items: some products can't be refunded. These are marked as non-refundable when you buy them, and include gift cards, TCG singles, jewellery, event entry fees (excluding Good Games Championships, which have different cancellation terms), and food and drinks.
After your preorder has shipped: you can still return a preorder item if you changed your mind, as long as it meets our change of mind conditions (see our returns article). When we receive it, a 10% cancellation and restocking fee is deducted from your refund, on top of the $9.50 return fee. This fee doesn't apply if you cancel because the estimated arrival date changed.
If stock or the product changes
- Stock issues on our side: if we can't fulfil your preorder, we'll contact you and offer an alternative product or a full refund, with no cancellation fee.
- Manufacturer allocations: manufacturers sometimes send retailers less stock than ordered, which is common with trading card game releases. We fill preorders in the order they were placed, first come, first served. If yours can't be filled, we'll contact you straight away and offer an alternative product or a full refund, with no cancellation fee.
- Product changes: if a manufacturer significantly changes a product, we'll tell you and give you the option to continue or cancel.
Shipping
- Shipping cost: calculated when you order and included in your total.
- Changing your address: contact us at [email protected] at least 14 days before the estimated release date. We can't guarantee changes requested after that.
- Orders with different release dates: we generally wait until everything in your order is available before we ship it. The exception is items that ship from tertiary warehouses, which are sent as soon as they are ready, so your order may arrive in more than one parcel.
Faulty or damaged preorders
Once your preorder is delivered, faulty or damaged items are covered by our returns policy. See How do returns and refunds work?.
